Top stand-up comedians in India to book in 2026

Twenty-six names, grouped by the room they suit, each with a credit you can check and a note on anything a corporate buyer should know first.

C4E Talent · published 28 October 2026 · 10 min read

The best-known stand-up comedians to book in India in 2026 fall into five groups: arena headliners (Vir Das, Samay Raina, Anubhav Singh Bassi, Abhishek Upmanyu, Munawar Faruqui), English-first comics for urban and leadership rooms (Kanan Gill, Kenny Sebastian, Biswa Kalyan Rath), Hindi-first family material (Amit Tandon, Gaurav Kapoor, Gaurav Gupta), ex-corporate comedians (Atul Khatri, Rahul Subramanian), and women and regional-language comics (Urooj Ashfaq, Neeti Palta, Alexander Babu). Zakir Khan stopped live shows on 20 June 2026 for a break he has said could run to 2028 or later. None of these comedians publish a fee. Expect ₹2 lakh and up for a known name, and see our price list for the bands.

Five groups of Indian stand-up comedians to book in 2026: arena headliners, English-first comics, Hindi-first family material, ex-corporate comedians, and women and regional-language comics

The short version

  • Pick the group before the name. A headliner who fills an arena can still be wrong for a 200-person sales offsite.
  • Zakir Khan is not taking live bookings. He ended live shows on 20 June 2026 and has spoken of a break to 2028 or beyond.
  • No one on this list publishes a fee. Any number you see on an aggregator is a guess. Ask for a written quote with exclusions.
  • Check brand safety yourself. Four names here have had police cases or court matters. We state the facts and link the source.
  • Of these, only Kanan Gill, Kenny Sebastian and Atul Khatri publish an official booking route we could find.
  • Disclosure: C4E Talent represents Parijat Sarkar. We earn nothing from any other name here.

Most lists of India's best comedians are ranked by fame and nothing else. That is the right list if you are buying a ticket. It is the wrong one if you are booking for a company, because the question is never who is most famous. It is who will work your room, in your language, without a call from legal the next morning.

So this list is grouped by the room each comedian suits. Every credit was checked on 28 October 2026 against a page we opened: the streaming platform's own title page, the comedian's site, a festival page, or named press. Anything we could not confirm is left out. The shortlist guide explains how to get from a group to three names.

Before you shortlist anyone

  • Is the comedian taking bookings? Tours, breaks and TV shoots close diaries for months. Ask before you fall in love with a name.
  • What language is the set? Hindi, English and Hinglish rooms are different rooms. Our language guide covers the choice.
  • What is the material like? A special that is great on Netflix may not be what you want after the CEO's address. Watch a full set, not a reel.
  • Is there anything in the news? Some of India's most popular comedians have faced police complaints over their material. That is a fact a buyer needs, not a verdict on the comic.

1. Arena headliners: the names that sell the invite

These comedians fill auditoriums on their own name. Book one when attendance and buzz matter more than customised material. Expect a long lead time and a fee well above the corporate bands.

Vir Das

Won the International Emmy for comedy in 2023 for his Netflix special *Landing*, the first Indian comedian to do so (Film Companion). Built for big rooms and international audiences. Know first: his 2021 *Two Indias* monologue in Washington drew police complaints in India (Al Jazeera).

Samay Raina

His YouTube special *Still Alive*, released in April 2026, was reported as the most-watched YouTube comedy special worldwide, at over 53 million views within two weeks (Free Press Journal). Know first: he faced police cases in 2025 over his show *India's Got Latent*. The Supreme Court quashed the FIRs against him on 14 August 2026 (Bar & Bench).

Anubhav Singh Bassi

Storyteller whose special *Bas Kar Bassi* premiered on Prime Video on 1 February 2023 (Sakshi Post).

Abhishek Upmanyu

Delhi comic who performs in Hindi with some English. His special *Jealous of Sabziwala*, filmed at the NCPA in Mumbai, released as a paid special on his own YouTube channel in 2023 rather than on a streamer (Dead Ant). Tours the Gulf as well as India (Platinumlist).

Munawar Faruqui

Mumbai comic who won Lock Upp in 2022 and Bigg Boss 17 in January 2024, which makes him one of the most recognised faces on this list (Rolling Stone India). Know first: he was arrested in Indore in January 2021 over a complaint about his material and spent over a month in jail before the Supreme Court granted interim bail (Al Jazeera). In 2023 the Court transferred the cases to Indore and made bail absolute (SCC Online).

Kunal Kamra

Political satirist, and one of the most-searched comedian names in India. Know first: in March 2025 Mumbai police registered an FIR over his remarks about Eknath Shinde, and the venue where he filmed was vandalised (Business Today). The Madras High Court granted him interim anticipatory bail (Bar & Bench). Political material is his act, so a company room is rarely the fit.

2. English-first comics for urban and leadership rooms

Story-led sets in English, or switching between English and Hindi. The safest choice for a metro office, a leadership offsite, or a room with international colleagues.

Kanan Gill

*Yours Sincerely, Kanan Gill* streams on Netflix (2020), with English as the original audio (Netflix). He also directed Biswa Kalyan Rath's *Mood Kharaab*. Publishes an official booking email on kanangill.com.

Kenny Sebastian

Bengaluru-raised comic whose show *The Most Interesting Person in the Room* mixes stories with a guitar (Bakchormeeboy). His official booking page names a manager for live shows and brands.

Biswa Kalyan Rath

His bilingual special *Mood Kharaab*, directed by Kanan Gill, has streamed on Prime Video since May 2023 (LeisureByte). Reviewers describe it as a rant-style set.

Aadar Malik

Musical comedian. *Stand Up The Musical* streams on Prime Video (TheTVDB), and his set in Prime Video's *Stand-Up Shorts* (2021) was the one critics singled out (Dead Ant). A good pick when the brief is a lighter evening rather than a full stand-up hour.

3. Hindi-first comedy about family and middle-class life

The broadest-appeal material in India: parents, marriage, money, office life. The right group for a mixed national audience, a dealer meet or a family day.

Amit Tandon

*Family Tandoncies* (Netflix, February 2020) was billed as Netflix's first all-Hindi stand-up special, his second for the platform after *Middle Class Karma* (Dead Ant). Family life, marriage and parenting.

Gaurav Kapoor

Hindi comic with the Prime Video special *HahaKaar* (2018) (Prime Video). Tours international venues for the diaspora as well as Indian cities (Glee Club).

Gaurav Gupta

*Market Down Hai* (Prime Video, 2021, Hindi) is about his family and Baniya culture. Know first: the BBFC rated it for moderate bad language (BBFC). Ask for a clean set if the room needs one.

Rahul Dua

Runner-up on Comicstaan season 1, and host of *Shark Tank India* seasons 2 and 3, per his touring promoter (Mount Royal University). A host as well as a comic, which helps when the evening needs both.

Harsh Gujral

Kanpur-born Hindi comic who took his new show to Dubai Opera in May 2026 (Khaleej Times). One of the most-searched comedian names in Google India, per Semrush.

Varun Grover

Screenwriter and lyricist, and director of *All India Rank* (2024), who also performs stand-up in Hindi and English. His show *Nothing Makes Sense* toured in 2024 and 2025 (Yale South Asian Studies). Know first: reviewers describe pointed political material (Dead Ant). A great booking for a literary festival, a harder one for an annual day.

4. Ex-corporate comedians

Comics who worked inside companies before going full time. They read a business fast and write about your organisation, not about offices in general. For an annual day or a sales kickoff this is usually the best value on the list.

Atul Khatri

A former CEO who became a full-time comedian in 2016 and performs in English and Hindi (Esplanade, Singapore). His own site lists corporate shows and a CEO-to-CEO format (atulkhatri.com), which makes him one of the few on this list who sells to companies openly.

Rahul Subramanian

Former brand manager at Mahindra. His special *Kal Main Udega* streams on Prime Video (Prime Video). Know first: a 2018 profile notes he takes on dark subjects and does not pander (Film Companion). Brief him on the room.

Parijat Sarkar (represented by C4E Talent)

Eleven years at Tata Communications and Tata Motors and an IIT Kharagpur MBA before comedy. Works clean, performs in Hindi, English, Gujarati and Bengali, and writes up to 15% of each corporate set around the client. The only comedian here with published rates: ₹25,000 to ₹35,000 for 30 minutes, ₹35,000 to ₹45,000 for 45. We represent him, so weigh this entry accordingly. See his sets and rates.

5. Women and regional-language comics

A smaller pool, and the one most booking lists leave thin. These are the names with credits we could confirm.

Urooj Ashfaq

Mumbai comic who won Best Newcomer at the 2023 Edinburgh Comedy Awards for her show *Oh No!* (Soho Theatre). The breakout name of the last few years.

Aditi Mittal

Her *Things They Wouldn't Let Me Say* (Netflix, 2017) made her one of the first Indian women with a Netflix stand-up special (Scroll).

Neeti Palta

The first Indian stand-up act at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, in 2013, and a Comicstaan judge. Has toured India, Southeast Asia, Dubai and Hong Kong. Represented by OML (OML).

Sumukhi Suresh

Comedian, writer and Comicstaan season 3 judge who runs the Motormouth writers' collective (The News Minute).

Prashasti Singh

Second runner-up on Comicstaan season 1. Her debut special *Door Khadi Sharmaaye* released on YouTube in four parts in 2023 (Dead Ant).

Alexander Babu (Tamil and English)

Chennai comic, working in a mix of Tamil and English, whose *Alex in Wonderland* premiered on Prime Video in August 2019 (The News Minute). The obvious pick for a Chennai or Tamil-speaking room.

Anirban Dasgupta (Kolkata)

Kolkata-born, Mumbai-based, with the Prime Video special *Take It Easy* (Scroll). His material draws on Kolkata and Bengali life. Know first: a video joking about Bengali stereotypes drew threats and was taken down, per the same profile.

How to book any of them

  1. Find the official route. Kanan Gill, Kenny Sebastian and Atul Khatri publish one. For most others it is their management company. Be wary of anyone who cannot say who that is.
  2. Ask for a written quote with set length, language, GST, travel, stay and the tech rider named. Our commercials guide lists every line.
  3. Send a brief. Two pages on the room, the audience and the no-go topics. Our brief template is free to copy.
  4. Watch a full set from the last six months, not the special from five years ago.

Questions buyers actually ask

Who is the most popular stand-up comedian in India in 2026?
By Google search volume in India (Semrush), Samay Raina, Munawar Faruqui and Kunal Kamra are among the most-searched comedian names in India, with Zakir Khan and Vir Das close behind. Popularity is not the same as fit for a company event, and Zakir Khan is not doing live shows after 20 June 2026.
Is Zakir Khan available for corporate shows in 2026?
Not for live shows, as far as public reporting goes. He announced in January 2026 that he would perform only until 20 June 2026 and then take a long break that he said could run to 2028, 2029 or 2030. Ask anyone offering him for a written confirmation from his management.
How much does it cost to book a famous Indian comedian?
None of the comedians on this list publish a fee, and aggregator prices are guesses. As a guide, working corporate comedians sit at ₹50,000 to ₹2,00,000 for a 30 to 45 minute set, specialists at ₹2 to 4 lakh, and arena headliners above that. Add 18% GST, travel and production. Our price list breaks down each band.
Which Indian comedians perform in English?
Kanan Gill's Netflix special is in English, Aadar Malik's musical special is in English, and Atul Khatri performs in English and Hindi. Biswa Kalyan Rath's latest special is bilingual. Ask for the language of the set in writing, because many comics switch between Hindi and English mid-show.
Who are the best female stand-up comedians in India?
Urooj Ashfaq won Best Newcomer at the 2023 Edinburgh Comedy Awards. Neeti Palta was the first Indian act at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2013. Aditi Mittal had one of the first Netflix specials by an Indian woman in 2017. Sumukhi Suresh and Prashasti Singh both came up through Comicstaan.
Are there regional-language stand-up comedians for events?
Yes. Alexander Babu performs in Tamil and English and is Chennai-based. Anirban Dasgupta's material draws on Kolkata and Bengali life. Parijat Sarkar, whom we represent, performs in Gujarati and Bengali as well as Hindi and English.

Book the show, not the guesswork

C4E Talent represents Parijat Sarkar, a Mumbai stand-up comedian and host who spent eleven years inside corporate India before he started selling the jokes instead of living them. Clean by default, up to 15% of every set written for the client, rates published on the page.
