The act
Books written in someone else's name
Saurabh Garg writes other people's books. Authorised biographies, founder stories, diaspora memoirs and family histories, for people whose lives are worth setting down properly and who have no intention of spending two years learning to write them.
He has been at it since 2004, across 1.3 million published words, a national bestseller about the Indian IT industry, a 90,000-word novel now in film development, five co-produced short films and a founder podcast. The range matters: a life story is not a LinkedIn post at length, and someone who has only written one of those cannot do the other.
The working method is the offer. One person, not an agency. No account manager, no ghost-behind-the-ghost, no handoff halfway through. He describes it as thinking with you until the story becomes impossible to tell badly, which is a fair description of what the interview stage actually is.

Questions
What people ask before commissioning a book
Is everything confidential?
Yes. An NDA is signed before any work begins and before any story is shared. He has never disclosed a client relationship without permission.
Who owns the final work?
You do, entirely. All copyright transfers to you on final payment. His name does not appear unless you ask for it to.
How long does a book or memoir take?
A full memoir or biography typically takes six to twelve months, depending on complexity and how available you are for interview sessions.
What does a ghostwriter cost?
There is no list price, because no two books are the same job. Scope, length, the number of interviews and the depth of research all move it. Send an enquiry with what you have in mind and you will get a real number, not a range.
Do you work with clients outside India?
Yes, regularly: Indian founders and families in the USA, UK, UAE, Singapore and Canada. Interviews are done remotely.
Can you help get the book published?
He advises on publishing and makes introductions, but he does not represent manuscripts and does not guarantee a publishing outcome. The work itself is the focus.
How do I know if we are a fit?
One conversation is usually enough to tell. He is looking for stories with real depth, and will say so honestly if he cannot serve the work well.
What does the first conversation look like?
It is not a sales call. It is about the story: what happened, what it cost, what it gave you, and why it is worth writing down.
How many clients do you take at once?
Two to three at most, so each book gets complete attention.

A biography, a founder story, a memoir, or a family history that should exist before the people who carry it are gone. Tell him what the story is. The first conversation is not a sales call.
